Modification may be necessary
5 of 6 found this helpful On a thin walled barrel (like a Mossberg 500), you are going to have to file down about half the length of the threaded post. Any less, and it will either not index correctly to the bottom of the top of the barrel, or will stick through into the bore and cause accuracy issues or possibly much more dangerous problems. That being said, running it across a metal file, then testing it, removing more, testing it again, etc..and finally installation with loc-tite has worked very well. It is tight even without the loc-tite, sitting on the barrel properly all the way down, and not extending into the bore. For a 590 with a thicker barrel wall, this may not be necessary at all. Still an incredible sight, at an incredible price. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.
