don't buy. stick with lower superfish filters..
i got this as an upgrade as I had a superfish 200. but compared it's awful. u can't access the propella to clean so u can't clean. the top part is a solid unit. the wire from plug only allowed the electricity to go Thu when it was at a certain angle. ( it I would have just rewired the plug)
it's really noisy. it does the job of filtering the water etc. but it got to a point I had to turn it off, ( I was setting up tank for fish to move from small tank into bigger tank with s.f 400 filter. ) way too loud . checked everything that could b wrong still loud. I found taking off the pipes at the front stops the noise hell of a lot. and u can't then get water to break on the surface as if u life unit out of water a teeny bit the propella doesn't work. so the tubes to digest water flow have to be on. hassle to return so kept as a back up in desperate measures. but my advise stick with superfish 200. it's amazing. or go for fluvel brand... which I did and it's so quiet. u forget it's on.
