Works very well.
1 of 1 found this helpful PROS: Excellent picture, easy to connect to a range of equipment, touch controls work well.
CONS: Speakers a bit too shrill when the volume is turned up.
COULD BE IMPROVED: By the simple addition of an 'Audio Out' socket to connect it to headphones, sound system, etc.
VERDICT: Good value, works very well, happy with purchase.

Good hardware, poor software
Pros: large screen, easy to read, starts quickly, sensitive to GPS signals, made by a firm that also makes serious nav-aids for aircraft and boats
Cons: syllable-ised pronunciation of street names is dreadfully garbled; often the names are unrecognisable which is bad because unlike TomTom the Garmin instructs one to turn left or right into the street name rather than 'turn 1st right' etc. One cannot stick one's head out of the car window to look for street names when one is driving a car! Also the map is totally covered in knife and fork signs which is great for restaurants who pay Garmin for the advertising but no bl**dy use to any driver looking for anything other than fast food.
Conclusion: Hardware seems very good, software is cheap and nasty! Ideal situation is for Garmin to make the hardware and then give it to TomTom to do the software.

Works well
A well made unit that works well across stated freq range. Operates from around 8 volts up to 13.8 volts without burning out. A simple improvement would be to build a bias-tee circuit onto the board so that it could be conveniently powered via the coax instead of it needing a separate power supply, -this would give it a great advantage over other such amplifiers in that it could be easily deployed in mast-head amplifier or active antenna. applications. Nevertheless a good product.
