Persistence pays off!

This laser engraver is for the technically minded only!! There is no guidance for assembly from a box of parts, but there are plenty of fasteners and assembly requires no advanced techniques. Key is to ensure the drive belts are tight. No software or firmware is supplied. Benbox can be downloaded free (v 3.7.99 is what I am using). I used Xloader to load the firmware (LX-Nano.328p.20150626.hex) and with a bit of experimentation and faffing, the machine is now working faultlessly. I would recommend fitting the x-axis stepper motor with a heating, as it can get pretty warm. Aside from that, the laser is reliable and plenty powerful for cutting card and thin balsa wood. It will etch wood to a millimetre or so at decent rates of work and overall I am happy with it. Happy engraving!

12v vaccy that really works!!!

A well thought out and well made vaccy to plug into 12v cig lighter socket. It actually sucks, doesn't deposit rubbish back out again if you knock it. It has a hose that can get in anywhere in a car, is easy to empty and doesn't cost the earth. If all you have is a 12v supply, this is the vaccy to have.
