An old classic favourite
A very entertaining book originally published in 1902. It follows a day in the life of an excitable, mischievous and curious pet dog in an aristocratic household including hypochondriac worries after hastily consuming a purloined mayonnaise fish dinner and the inevitable resolution under the bed of the least sympathetic family member! It is a close contender in first person humorous narrative with Charles Pooter's fictional diary and no doubt draws some inspiration from that amongst other popular publications of the time. Whilst comparisons can be drawn with Punch and Thackeray it takes no political stance, just delivering some light fun suitable for the whole family. The text is illustrated throughout with skilled and characterful line drawings. Absolutely worth a read, and regular re-reads!

An ABC for You and Me
Charming and characterful watercolour images of animals and an easy rhyme scheme. The pictures and text are very engaging for young children and help familiarity with the letters.
