Illicit affair set against the deeper background of the Irish rebellion and the peoples' reactions to it.
The scenic beauty of Ireland lends a spectacular background for this brooding film. The actors are superb, particularly that of John Mills as a simpleton and Trevor Howard as a priest. Believable characters set during the time of the Irish rebellion. Well made picture with a winning score.

Useful fix.
I needed a method for sealing the fuel reservoirs on a couple of old kerosene lanterns. One was seeping around the rolled bottom edge of the tank and the other was much worse with pin holes in the bottom. They are both now serviceable and workable antiques that didn't require modifying function nor appearance.

"Downfall"
1 of 1 found this helpful "Downfall" is the story of the last days of the Third Reich, shown largely from the perspective of Traudl Junge, a 22 year old secretary for Adolph Hitler near the end of the war. The scenes in the Bunker give the realistic picture of the claustrophobic and delusional character of the Nazi hierarchy. The actors portraying the principal characters are realistic and quite appropriate; I was impressed with their performances.
The film is in German with English subtitles which enhances the somber atmosphere, but requires one to have to read the subtitles. I would recommend this movie to anyone who wishes to view an accurate portrayal of what took place.
