Bahco HATCHET Standard Splitting Axe 1.1/4lb BAHHGPS06360

Rough as a kitten's tongue.

Very poor finishing on the handle with runs of polyurethane that needed sanded down. The grip was slippery due to the poly finish and so I ended up stripping the entire handle down to the wood and another finish applied. The last thing I need is for an axe to go flying through the air because it slipped out my hand! So much for cosmetics - the real problem with this axe is the poor grind on it. I had to regrind the entire edge because it was not sharp and the cutting edge was off centre running diagonally from heel to toe. One side of the bevel was twice as steep as the other. In summary; if you want to strip and refinish the handle and regrind the edge then this is the tool for you. If not then buy a different axe 'cause this is a stinker. Shame on Bahco for allowing this piece of crap out the factory.

Worse than useless

I've a heavy BMW touring bike and have dropped it a couple of times but is stopped on the engine protection covers. After fitting the Heed Crash Bars I've noticed that the bike rocks on the bars, make the bike roll over and smashes the mirrors. I was better off before fitting these. I practice a lot of slow speed manoeuvre and gymkhana so drops are part of the game. These are useless for preventing the damage I bought them for.
