Partly fulfilling a need
It is very difficult to rate the quality of this CD as simply good or not good, because it fills a basic gap in the recordings of Bantock's music. I first became aware of Sappho from the old recording by Johanna Peters and Adrian Leaper. That recording sounds dated, though the prominence given to the contralto role makes the text very clear, aided by the singer's good diction. As I got to know the piece I became very interested in it and returned to it often, but wishing at the same time to hear a modern recording with a better sound-picture and a top modern interpreter, so when I became aware of the new recording by Handley/Bickley I immediately purchased it, and in part it satisfied me to hear the orchestral element well played in modern sound. The problem is that the balance is very unkind to Bickley, whose words are often swallowed by the orchestral sound (and whose diction is also not her best feature), as if she were behind the orchestra and not in the foreground. So the gap is not fully filled, but on balance the new recording is worth having, alongside the older one.

Good reliable product
Very easy to fit. Seems very reliable. Lasts for a while if used intermittently as I do.

So far they have done all I wanted them to do
It is a bit early to judge their longevity but so far they have been reliable, in spite of some fairly heavy rain. Based on past experience I wrapped the battery unit in a plastic sandwich back and sellotaped the opening tight, and would always recomment doing the same with any outside battery units.
