Reliable, Effective Food Waste Disposer
Bought this to replace a cheap Chinese disposer that had burned out within a month of installation. As this wasn't branded, I was worried that this would end up the same and oh how wrong I was!
Installation is easy if you're replacing another one as it'll fit directly on to the old fixture and you'll be up and running in 90 seconds. If not, you'll need to widen your sink if you're in the UK, but that'd be an issue regardless of what disposer you get as even with the disposers that can fit on our existing plug holes, I think they're just too small to put any food down easily!
The motor was quieter although if you haven't used one before, don't expect miracles. Think of it sounding like a washing machine on high spin with a couple of crackles here and there as the food is pulverised - not deafening, but not silent either. I found I could talk to my partner with relative ease and only having to raise my voice slightly when next to it.
I've put everything down this thing both intentionally and unintentionally. When my small alarm clock fell down when it was running and disappeared within a few seconds, I don't think I need to say much more about it's ability to eat up foodstuffs. You'll have no problem, not even with a full chicken (I know as I may have left a chicken in the fridge while away and was not pretty to return to). I also find the motor useful for minor blockages in the pipe as it can effectively act as a water pump.
The air pressure switch eliminates the risk of accidental activation due to surges, or electrical shocks from touching with wet hands. It's a nice additional component that normally costs extra.
I've owned it now for ~6 months and not once has it jammed so if you're thinking about it, this one is a really good shout for a fraction of the price for what you'd pay for even a base model insinkerator.
