I recieved the wrong chip

After receiving this chip, I plugged it into a breadboard and put power and ground on it. All seemed fine until I put the write signal high, after which it heated up and melted the breadboard. Turns out, even though it says 74ls189 on the chip, it isn't actually one. Would not recommend.
