    Lionel 28052 Norfolk & Western Class A 2-6-6-4 2000 C8 TMCC & RailSounds
    01 Apr, 2016
    A Class Supremacy
Starting in 1997, Lionel began starting on one of their most renown projects: the Articulated Steam Locomotive project. Three locomotives emerged from this amazing lineup: The N&W A Class from 1998, the C&O 1601 from 1999, and finally the UP Big Boy from 2000. Made from: Zinc Alloy, Diecast Metal, Plastic. Compatible Track: Lionel FasTrack, Lionel Tubular Track, Gargraves Track, Atlas O Scale Nickel Silver, MTH ScaleTrax, MTH RealTrax. Weight: 14 lb 10 ounces (Engine), 6 lb 5 ounces (Tender) Total Weight: 20 lbs 15 ounces (1 ounce from 21 lbs even) Engine Lift Requirement: 2 hands (Is a Must!) Tender Lift Requirement: 1 hand (2 hands is optional) The N&W A Class by Lionel has great handmade detail and also great molded detail as well. It features TMCC (TrainMaster Command Control) and also Electro Couplers and a Fan-Driven Smoke Unit. It can haul over 3 lbs 8 ounces of pulling power making it extremely powerful on your layout to haul heavy timed freights or coal drags. Because of its pulling power, it can haul over 45 freight cars without breaking a sweat. The good parts of this engine refer to the amazing detail and features inside and outside the A Class. From the handrails to the chuffing and whistle (and even TowerCom and Crew Talk), it comes off as a beast of an engine for 1998 and even today. The bell sound remains also superb to listen to and sounds realistic as well. Other good parts are also that since it is a TMCC engine, it can be run with MTH DCS and Lionel Legacy remote device systems as well. Bad parts of this engine could be the TowerCom and Crew Talk. It only has one line: Norfolk and Western 1218, All Clear Ahead! For 1997 and 1998, this was groundbreaking but you could also feel like more should've been put in. Another bad part is the whistle. The LionMaster version of this has a great hooter whistle that sounds old and tired and ready for the scrap. The whistle in this (being late 1990's model train technology) has only one sound and is non-quillible but sounds okay. Facts about the Product: Suggested Retail Price: $600 - $1,200. Railroad: Norfolk and Western Class: A Road Number: 1218 Wheel Arrangement: 2-6-6-4 (USA), 130+032 (France), 34 + 35 (Turkey), 3/4 + 3/5 (Swiss), (1'C)C2' (UIC, German, Italian) Minimum Curve: 0-54 (Some do say 0-72 but min curve and min radius are the same in O scale market) Value Price: $600 - $1,200. Whistle: Hooter (freight) Total Constructed in America: 60. 43 were from the Norfolk and Western, 7 from the Pittsburgh & West Virginia, 10 from the Seaboard Air Line. Arrivals: 1934 and 1937 for Pittsburgh & West Virginia 1935 and 1937 for Seaboard Air Line 1936 for the Norfolk and Western Retirements: 1953 (Both Pittsburgh & West Virginia and Seaboard Air Line) 1958-1959 (Norfolk and Western) Preserved: 1 (N&W 1218) Worth it? Yes. If your a A Class fan or N&W Man or just want it to tell American History.
Lionel 6-39385 Made U.S.A. Navy Tank Car O 027 2014 Armed Forces Collection

    USA Navy Tank Car Review
A very durable car with diecast trucks and couplers makes it a very high end product. With it being not as common as some other cars, this Navy Tank Car truly makes a Military Train even more pronounced.

    Review of the Raildriver Controller
This product is very good at what it does. The controls feel nice and the buttons are easy to reach. I would love it if the market had other raildriver style controls like one for the UK, one for Germany, and so on. I myself recommend this product to people who are a fan of trains and have train sim, train sim world, trainz, etc.
