HTC Diamond Review
The HTC diamond is a relatively new handset from HTC and will sell as business / professional user handsets on various networks throughout the world. I am going to keep this article simple and just list the likes and dislikes of this handset. First: For those of you in a rush the over-all feeling is good, very good. For business users, especially those that have used Windows Mobile before - this is a bigger change than most reviews indicate. It is a great phone - messaging, surfing the web and multimedia apps are great. Ok now the core of the article: Likes: * Size: the handset is the same size as my touch dual, only thinner and it feels great to hold. I know most may think of the diamond back as a useless design feature or just all looks but its not. The handset design is very ergonomic. * Screen: the screen is the same size as most windows mobile pocket pcs but the resolution makes all the difference. I dont care that the iphone has a bigger screen - having this resolution on such a small device is the perfect balance for most people. You will love surfing the web, navigating through the option, etc. Reading journals and articles is just a joy. * Keyboard: this has an on-screen keyboard (no physical one) and thats usually a big problem for me because I send hundreds of emails. The diamond is the first phone with a on-screen keyboard that I have used and actually found useable. I am even typing quicker than on my touch dual which ahs a physical keyboard. To get into details the suretype keyboard is great, the fully qwerty is not so much. Useability: the original software on the phone was slow, unresponsive and too complicated. I unlocked the software and installed a new ROM (xda developers) and found that the phone is very responsive anda joy to use. I would highly recommend upgrading the software like this - it makes all the difference. GPS: GPS is something that you need to have connected on the go, when your in a rush and lost. It has to be quick to connect, accurate, easy on the battery. This ticks all boxes. Dislikes: Battery: not quite as good as I might like - I am charging once in the morning and once in early evening. I think it is because I am a heavy user (50-odd email and 50-odd texts a day + some music playback + 30-odd minutes of web surfing and 20-odd minutes of gps). Im going to see how things average out after another week of use and then might look into extended batterys. Camera: the actual camera is great but the lack of a physical camera button is a little annnoying. This is only a problem for those that take a lot of group shots with friends. Also when you press a button to take a shot it takes a few seconds to focus and then take a shot - only really for take shots of still items that you may need to take on-the-go or to email/mms to people. Accessories: I really dont like that the cables are very short (just about reach from the plug on the wall to the front of my desk). I also dont like that everything is made to shine in gloss - even the usb cable comes covered in plastic and is all gloss at the connectors. I like some gloss, but this is too much. Memory: 4GB is just about enough but I would either like a microSD option or 8GB built in. All in all I think its worth it - £25 to upgrade from my touch dual and that doesnt include what I make from the bluetotoh GPS, etc. If you are in the market for a new handset this should definately be a contender.

HTC Touch / HTC Touch Diamond - 2 reviews in 1
This is actually a review for the HTC Touch Diamond, but as the item title is listed as the HTC Touch I will write a review for that too (my previous phone). HTC Touch: The HTC Touch is an excellent phone and was a breakthrough for Windows Mobile devices - sleek, functional and with a good feature set. It is still, however, a previous generation now and lacks the processing power / memory to run the best and newest applications out. The lack of a physical keyboard also makes a big difference: I compared the Touch and the Touch Diamond and although both are a similar size the Touch Diamond just seems far easier to write emails and texts on. I think it is just the difference in casing as perhaps more importantly, the quality of the t9 dictionary. Over-all I would recommend the HTC Touch but only if you are on a budget and are getting a good deal for your money (paying less than £100 for a good condition device). It remains an excellent phone for both personal and business use. On the technical side of things everything is good - signal quality is excellent, audio quality is good but as always could be better and everything runs very smoothly. HTC Touch Diamond: The new generation of HTC handsets (Touch Diamond and Touch Pro) are both excellent handset, but if you are willing to wait a few months, there are new line of devices being released by HTC - please visit their website for more details. However, the Touch Diamond, to me atleast, will remain a distinct device - it has an excellent screen and all the hardware you could want in a mobile device (HSDPA, fast processor, GPS, bluetooth and WIFI). I strongly recommend this device for under £200. It is a joy to use and actually wasnt planning on keeping it when I bought it but have been persuaded to do so. As a business professional it is like a right hand man - excellent signal quality, call quality and fast GPS tracking along with a fast processor, plenty of memory and fast HSDPA signal everywhere it is really always there to help me whenever I need directions, meeting information or am just looking for a bite to eat or a place to relax in the local area. My biggest problem with the Touch Diamond is the battery life - lasting 1 day at the most. This is a problem if I am out all day, use the GPS a bit and then need to go out in the evening - the battery probably wouldnt make it past 4pm so I would highly recommend getting the extended battery or a portable charger (car/remote battery charger, etc). Please note that this battery life is on 2G most of the time, 3G when using GPS for about an hour and playing about 30 minutes of music and using as an ebook reader for 30 minutes - yes my phones have a lot of work to do, loll. If you have any other queries I am more than happy to answer - please email gemini3876@gmail.com.
