Takes too long to beat cream

I used my machine as soon as I got it and I thought it would do everything from start to finish as I just cannot make a simple decent sponge cake, but I was surprised to see I had to still fold in the flour in the end which is the most tricky bit in making a decent sponge cake. I thought the machine would mix it but I had to do it by hand. Fortunately the cake turned out OK. Then I had to whisk the cream and it took forever, so much so I used my hand held mixer which did the job in a few minutes, so i was again dissapointed. I hope my disappointment will fade in time and the machine will become my best friend.
