    About

Film Buff extraordinaire. The best films are the oldies. The films they make today you can make yourself with a camcorder and a threadbare plot. The only directors still alive are John Boorman and Ridley Scott. Apart from the odd film by Steven Spielberg, there's nobody and nothing to shout about. Frank Darabont made two memorable movies, The Shawshank Redemption & The Green Mile, neither of which won the Best Film Oscar but will stay in people's memories for a lifetime. What was the last good film to win the Best Oscar (now there's a question) ?

Great Suspense Drama full of potential plots.
"My Cousin Rachel" is one of the greatest films ever made in 1952. I only came across it by complete chance - a film starring Olivia de Havilland and a young Richard Burton in what seems to be his first real starring Role. Richard Burton was voted the most promising newcomer in the Golden Globes of 1952 as a result of starring in this film. An engaging crime-mystery story by Daphne du Maurier that leaves the whole thing open-ended - like Citizen Kane, it leaves the viewer to decide the conclusion of the story at the very end. A must watch film.
