Hot large dinners
I went for this Tiffin tin because of the double skinned pans, that also had separate lids, which were almost watertight when tipped on their side. I bought the large four tiered design, with the insulated bag included.
I pack my lunch up at 06:00 in the morning and don't get to eat break till 10:00 and lunch at 12:30. I found that in winter the break was still hot , and my lunch was still just warm enough to eat around 12:30. The food seemed to stay adequately hot for around 4 hours then started to trail off so at 6 hours the food was lukewarm. I found that if you used all the four tiers and the more hot food you packed, the longer it stayed hotter.
The insulated bag was wipeable and of a sturdy construction, with straps strong enough to hold any weight you packed in it. It forms a compact easy to carry lunch option and I didn't have to struggle for the microwave at work. it was easy to carry on the bus having a carry handle and shoulder strap, and just as easy to load into the car. I found it easier using this small compact pack, rather than a bag full of plastic containers, that often used to leak in the bag.
It cleans easily, the separate lids reduce spillage and the pan above doesn't get its base covered in the food below. Which meant I could stack any foodstuff in any pan order, rather than the liquid /stew option having to go on the bottom every time.
The construction is solid and the clamps holding it together don't unclip easily, so no spillage if you catch the side clips when lifting it in or out of the case.
The only downside is the base pan has the clamps attached, so it can be bulky to use as a plate, as the clamps don't come off. But this is only a mild niggle.
I love my tiffin tins and enjoy having warm food without the cooking and waste of dinner time at work. They hold far more food than I can eat when filled up, and are easy to rinse out when I get home.
