Reliable and ink is inexpensive
I had bought a Canon Pixma IP3600 at least 3 years ago. It was reliable and there is ink available for it of good quality at a very cheap price point. When I recently received a heads up from my old IP3600 that I needed to contact the Canon service center because of some error, I did, and of course they let me know that it was out of warranty and they wouldn't be able to help me. I searched for other printers and found that the majority though less than what the IP3600 cost, that the ink was considerably more expensive or you needed to become adept at refilling canisters in order to save on ink. So I bought this refurbished IP3600 and it is working great. It prints well on regular paper or card stock of which I tested it on so far. One thing that I noted that I had to be aware when was since I had a previous IP3600 it was still being recognized by my computer and when I turned on the replacement IP3600 it appeared that it was the printer I was using and I kept getting a message that the printer was offline. I finally checked the drop down and lo and behold there was another IP3600 listed as copy 1 and so putting that into the drop down for print, the printer was recognized and printing went the same as usual. One thing I do note about this refurbished one that it turns itself off after a time and I have to remember to turn it on. That is actually a positive feature in my mind as it saves on power and maybe wear on the machine.
