Not bad
Compared to it's predecessor, the STM version is a bit of an improvement. This lens' biggest attributes are its size/weight and silent focusing operation. Its about a half inch shorter than the older model and the STM motor means quick and quiet focusing. On the short end at wide open (3.5) I found it to be a little weak (poor resolution & detail). This lens works very well stopped down. My 18-200 IS is much better wide open. Outdoors at F8 it works very well.
