Best value for under $500, nice IPS display, comfortable spacious keyboard layout, 2-in-1
1 of 1 found this helpful I spent more than a month researching laptops in the sub $400 category and decided to pull the trigger on this one. Being refurbished I was a little worried about the cosmetic quality or if I'd have to send back for replacement or repair. The laptop looks barely used except for a couple of light scratches on the top cover. The scratches run along the grain of the "brushed metal" appearance so actually they're not very noticeable and can only be seen on close visual inspection. The bottom cover, keyboard and palm rest were in flawless condition as well as the IPS display. If I was to give a cosmetic grade to this laptop I'd say it's in "Excellent Condition". For a letter grade rating I'd give it an "A-". There is a sticker on the bottom that says Acer Recertified Product Service with a support phone number and email on it. The colors and the brightness of the IPS display are excellent. One of the best I've seen on a laptop. There were no dead or stuck pixels and there is minimal light bleed. Functionally everything works just fine. I haven't noticed any issues with the hardware. The keyboard is wide and the keys are generously spaced apart. The keyboard backlighting works well. It will auto-off when the keys aren't in use after about 30 seconds and as soon as you type again the backlighting comes on instantly. The touchscreen is very responsive. The laptop works well in laptop, stand, tent, or tablet mode. Make sure you turn Dolby Audio on in the audio control panel. Your audio level, sounds and music will sound much better. The back cover comes off fairly easy. Just unscrew the screws and unsnap the back cover all around along the edges using a plastic pry tool so as not to scratch the cover. You will eventually want to upgrade the HDD cause it's just too slow. I cloned the HDD using Macrium Reflect Free and a MantisTek USB 3.0 SATA HDD/SSD External 2.5'' Case for the SSD. I replaced it with a 240GB SSD so the performance and boot times are now much improved. I also upgraded the total system RAM to 12 GB by adding an SK Hynix 8GB PC4-2133 RAM stick. I have no problems surfing the web with multiple tabs open. It can play downloaded movies and YouTube HD videos just fine. As far as gaming goes it uses an Intel HD 520 graphics. I can play World of Warships on 1366 x 768 on low to medium settings with 30-45 fps. I can play CS: GO at 1366 x 768 on low settings with 60+ fps. I can play Battlefield 4 at 1366 x 768 on low settings with 30-60 fps (avg. is 45 fps). Regular web browsing over the laptop's wireless adapter was fine but when playing games for some reason I had some latency/lag issues. My ping times were not stable. I don't know if it was because of the wireless adapter or my own WiFi network so I bought an Anker USB 3.0 to RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter to connect the laptop directly to the cable modem. After that, the latency/lag issues resolved and gaming experience improved even more. I bought this laptop to be used for general purpose stuff like web surfing, watching movies/vidoes, emailing and light casual gaming when I'm on the go. If you don't mind refurbished, I think this is the best full HD laptop for under $400. Spend a little more to upgrade to an SSD and maybe to max out the RAM and you've got a very capable laptop. Overall I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Excellent 4K monitor! Best value anywhere on the web right now!
5 of 5 found this helpful I purchased this monitor to see if it would be an upgrade to my previous setup which was a Dell U3415W 34" ultrawide monitor with 3440 x 1440 (WQHD) resolution along with a Asus 24" VG248QE 1080p monitor as a secondary display. I wanted to get one of the new 38" ultrawide monitors (3840x1600 resolution) but they are just way too expensive right now and I've never seen a 4K monitor this affordable. As far as gaming goes, I can see there's a slight improvement in the graphics quality but really not much noticeable difference and I lose the ultrawide aspect that I have been used to. Now for 4K movies and video content I can see a big difference obviously because there is more native 4K content available to watch. If you're coming from a 1080p monitor then this would be a huge upgrade and well worth it for the price right now. I'm still on the fence as to whether to keep this as my main display or go back to the ultrawide. For productivity they're both similar enough but I do enjoy the more immersive aspect the ultrawide gives me for gaming and I get about 10-20 more fps gain by sticking with the ultrawide. Now as for the monitor itself it is an excellent well built monitor. The height adjustable stand and base is very sturdy and robust. It has great viewing angles. Mine did not have any dead or stuck pixels. There was very minimal light bleed, even less light bleed than on my ultrawide monitor so I am very pleased with that. The joystick control makes it very easy to access the settings. It came with a DisplayPort cable and an HDMI cable. Gaming is very nice and responsive. I can't comment on the FreeSync because my card is Nvidia. I'm not a visual artist or pro photographer but the colors seems well calibrated. I didn't feel the need to adjust any of the factory default settings. Probably my only complaint is I wish it were a bit brighter. Maximum brightness is 250 cd/m2 but I tend to like my monitors a bit brighter at maybe 280-300 cd/m2. As I use it more I'm sure I'll get accustomed to the current brightness level though. I tried the built-in speakers and my cellphone puts out way better sound than these do. The sound from the headphone jack works decent.. Other ports include a DisplayPort, and 2 HDMI ports. There are no USB ports. Overall however this is an excellent value for your money if you're looking for an affordable 4K monitor. I would definitely recommend this monitor! Don't let this deal pass you!
Pros: No dead or stuck pixels. Height adjustable stand. Joystick control makes settings access much easier to navigate. Didn't notice any ghosting. 4K at 60Hz. Good color calibration right out of the box. Very minimal backlight bleed. OnScreen Control and Screen Split software. Headphone jack if you need it. Cost.
Cons: Wish it was a little bit brighter but that's just my personal preference. Don't let that hold you back from purchasing this monitor. No USB ports. Poor built-in speaker sound but that's expected.

Awesome lights! Really makes your case stand out!
I own both the Lian Li Strimer and the new Strimer Plus version but honestly I prefer this one over the new one. With this version the lights are not as bright and you can set the speed to even slower settings. The new Strimer Plus is a bit overkill. They're too bright for me and the speeds are too fast. It comes with a panel switch to control the lights which is fine by me. The only drawback is that they are a pain to set up and aligning the cables and lights in the tight plastic holders take time but otherwise it's worth the effort.
