chosen due to being rubber-free

It seems fine. My elderly mum puts it in a cover and she finds it not too hot to start off with like her previous ones. Of course this is usage during a warm time of year, so can not comment on how it will fare in the winter.

To top up some already in use

My mum likes small curls and she has 2 lots of rollers, this type and some in green that look very similar but are a different manufacturer. (Pattern of holes different.) She has fine hair and finds that when taking the green ones out, they stick to the hair, so are painful to remove. This make are removed comfortably. After a few painful hair setting with the green ones, I threw them away and ordered some more of these instead. Overall: hair stays in place /easily removed.
