I have purchased this item before about 8 years ago. It was the only feeder that actually worked to keep the squirrels out. . . .they eventually ate away the plastic causing the seed to spill out but it took a long time.. . the springs had gotten stretched out and it allowed them access to the plastic. . . . I think the sun had weaken the plastic too. I didn't hesitate to look for the same exact feeder to replace it with. I have taken back many many feeders that did not work to deter the squirrels. Plus it holds about 8# of seed so you don't have to fill it everyday.. ..I am thinking of ordering another one so I can feed more birds this winter. This is a great feeder that really works and for a decent price too. You can even mix bird seed by filling the 3 separate chambers with whatever kind of seed you want. It is attractive too.
