AMD dual core (socket AM2) for £20'ish!
For around £20 (18/12/2009) this is a great value dual core CPU. Why buy an expensive quad core CPU for basic computing tasks? Why buy a single core AM2 Athlon 3500/3700/4000 for a similar price? These slightly older CPU’s should work in 99.9% of AM2 motherboards too :)

Gigabyte GV-NX59128D
This is PCI-Express Geforce 5 series graphics card. The Gigabyte GV-NX59128D is actually a slightly underclocked PCI-Express version of the Geforce FX5900XT Even when new (released 2004?) it was considered last generation technology. Out performed by most other PCI Express 'gaming' cards. In raw perfomance its similar to the Geforce 6600 (non GT) or ATi Radeon X600XT/Pro. A Geforce 7900 or Radeon X1800XT makes much more sense if your looking for a cheap PCI-Express card. (remember the Geforce FX5900XT dates back to 2003!) Nothing outstanding with the Gigabyte version - average fan, standard clock speeds, standard DVI/D-sub/TV-out outputs. Thanks for reading, Keith (06/08/2009)

Fast socket 754 CPU, but old/dated now.
(18/12/2009) Good upgrade CPU if your coming from a Sempron (or maybe a Athlon 64 2800). @ £30'ish MUCH better bang for buck than the rare and only 5% faster Athlon 64 3700. However, its probably better to consider a cheap AMD socket AM2 or Intel socket 775 dual core bundle for not much extra cash.
