Great heavy rock album, if you haven't got it in your collection yet, buy it now & you won't be disappointed!
"Never Turn Your Back On A Friend" is the third outing by the Welsh 3-piece & is a classic album from the opening track, the driving "Breadfan" right through to the final classic "Parents", augmented by 3 bonus tracks is excellent value for money.
This is a nice package courtesy of Noteworthy Productions, with comprehensive & insightful booklet insert notes & the music digitally remastered under the band's supervision.
The album moves through Van Morrison's "Baby Please Don't Go", which is another outstanding rocker & the archetypal Budgie long titles "You're The Biggest Thing Since Powdered Milk" & "In The Grip Of The Tyrefitters Hand" keeping the heavy rock feel. These are interspersed with the brilliant acoustic tracks, "You Know I'll Always Love You" & "Riding My Nightmare".
Great musicianship throughout, with the trademark chugging bass & brilliant vocals of Burke Shelley, the driving drums of Ray Phillips & the superb guitar work of Tony Bourge.
All in all a brilliant album from a totally underrated band who never received the credit that they deserved.

Highly recommended, buy it and you'll not regret it
This is a personal favourite of mine from "back in the day" in the 70's & the 3rd version that I own, bought mainly for disc 2, which is a live recording featuring tracks for "Crime" but also some tracks from the excellent follow up album "Crisis, What Crisis?".
The main album compares favourably with my Remaster & MFSL recordings, which is high praise indeed!
Superbly recorded & played by a band at the top of their game, on their breakthrough album. And what an album, featuring the hit single "Dreamer" & other classic tracks such as "School", "Bloody Well Right".
The live album is excellent too & evokes memories of when I saw them live when they toured with "Crime" and is a fantastic addition to my collection.

Excellent recording
A excellent summary of early Level 42 material delivered live in their inimitable style, with the band in their element.
Mark King definitely on form, with the rest of the group providing fine support with improvised versions of their classic tracks.
Well recommended & a nice addition to my collection.
