I've gone back to this DVD so many times because it's a superbly made film. It's not what you think or expect & it twists and turns from the very beginning. It managed to slip under the Hollywood radar to a certain extent despite its outstanding cast. It's not a massive blockbuster but it's clever, thought provoking and takes you on an emotional journey from the get go. You'll end up involved and immersed in its clever plot and surprised right till the very end where every aspect comes together and the truth is finally revealed. If you're a murder mystery & suspense fan, I don't think you could go wrong with this film. If you're like me, it'll stay with you for years!!! Enjoy!!!

In my opinion, this film is one of the best early American settler films ever made. It's gritty, harsh, beautiful, sad with a touch of humour even pilgrim!! It is an absolute humble classic with Redford, his magnificent horse & the stunning diverse natural beauty of the US filling every screen moment. Every time I watch it it touches my heart & soul. Truly awesome every time.
