BIRTH FRONT AXLE DRIVESHAFT TRIPOD HUB REPLACEMENT OE QUALITY REPLACE 3403
    25 May, 2018
Birth Driveshaft Tripod joint- was I unlucky?
When I needed to replace the tripod joints on my sons Fiat Bravo, I found that Birth joints were pretty much the only game in town. Duly bought two joints, fitted both and all was well. Seemed good quality and at a decent price. However, that was 2yrs and 1 month ago. Now, one of the joints has failed. (Confirmed when I removed the drive shaft to find that one of the 3 bearings fell apart). This could have been a random failure, however, I would have expected the joint to last way longer than this. Checking the website I couldn't see any info on warranty period, however, I do know that some (most) aftermarket drive shafts are guaranteed for 2 years. So perhaps this is the expected life of the joint (given that mine failed after 2yrs 1 month)? If so, then I expect to have to replace it every 2 years, (or maybe I was just unlucky)?
    StarTech.com DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter Cable - 3 m (10 ft.) - 4K 30Hz

Fine cable but check your Display Port
This is a passive cable and therefore involves no active electronics. As a cable only, it is quite expensive. Most other active or passive cables are much cheaper. However, StarTech are a good company and make fine products. This one is no exception. It is very well made and worked as soon as I plugged it in. One thing to be aware of is the difference between Display Port and HDMI signals. They are not the same, which is why most cables include active electronics to perform the conversion. This means that you need to ensure that the Display Port device that you plug this into has the DP++ sign. If it does not have those 'pluses', this cable may not work. My device (laptop) did, so no problem. Incidentally, I did also buy a cheap 'active adapter', and this also worked, but in terms of reliability, I would trust the StarTech cable not to let me down.
Maxview Screened Twin F-Plug Satellite TV Sky HD Flush Outlet Face Plate

Maxview Screened Twin F-Plug Satellite TV Sky HD Flush Outlet Face Plate
Does exactly what it's supposed to, so no complaints on that score. Corners are rounded, so doesn't not look quite right if mated with a 'square' edged surface box. However, the big negative is that it isn't white. It is cream. The colour is obvious against a white background or other white face plates. I ended up not using it and getting a white one at a similar price from a different manufacturer. I didn't see anything on the packaging to identify the colour as not being white. Disappointed with Maxview.
