The Sirens Of Titan (S.F. Masterworks), Kurt Vonnegut, Used Excellent Book
    14 Oct, 2020
    Not one of his best
The actual book was in excellent condition and at a very good price. But compared with Kurt Vonnegut's other works, and works by other SF writers, I found it a bit disappionting: 'Masterwork' is definitely an over-hype. That said, I did read it to the end, so maybe I'm just being picky ...

Great book by a great writer
Definitely one of her best: right up there with Breathing Lessons, Back When We Were Grownups, Patchwork Planet etc.
Isabella: The she-wolf of France, Queen of England by Alison Weir (Hardcover)
    10 Nov, 2021
    'Popular history' at its best
A very thoroughly researched work, relying heavily on contemporary documents, and throwing new light not only on Isabella but also on all the people and events around her, including in particular the death of Edwrd II. And importantly not a 'dry-as-dust' plod through facts and figures, but a lively and engrossing picture of the lives of those who mattered in fourteenth-century England. The book arrived better packed than any other I've ever bought, which was an unexpected and most welcome plus
