Excellent
Great snapshot in time of what was once part of education of many middle and most upperclass young men of the era. If you are interested in fencing, dueling, or simply the history of the sword, you will find this book of interest. Additionally, if you are a designer of modern products, there are lessons to be learned about how the sword, an item of both pure utility and fashion evolved. Similar to modern vehicles, there exists a balance between practicality, function, fashion, technology, etc. In short, a well written, clear account of how to go toe-to-toe with an opponent and not be bested (lessons with timeless applications)

Great resource for the aspiring collector
Very good little book for those entering the world of collecting edged weapons. While some of the material may be dated, there is enough that is sound, practical advice that will always be useful. This is written to help guide those interested in collecting, so it goes beyond other texts that simply offer eye candy in the form of lots of pictures of (admittedly) beautiful items. Those books also have their place, but with this text, you get information about how to properly clean items in your collection, what to look for when evaluating the authenticity of a potential acquisition, and even how to inventory and value your collection for such mundane purposes of insurance and estate planning. While this was written before the existence of on-line auctions, and therefore doesn't cover the marketplace where many items are now sold/purchased, the substance of the information still holds true. All in all, a valuable reference for aspiring collectors.

Simple. Frank. Useful.
Good basic guide to beginning knife throwing. This is not a tactical or combat training field guide. It is for those who would like to approach knife throwing like a version of darts. The plans to build a durable target are useful. I know that they would have saved my bedroom wall years ago when I was a teenager flipping steak knives at the drywall!
