CD version of definitive 'Pinafore' recording
This particular recording was made in 1959 and is generally considered by G&S experts to be one of the definitive recordings of HMS Pinafore. The performance is excellent with good clarity of the orchestra and the singing. I have also listened to the vinyl version of this recording, which seems to my ears to be slightly 'brighter' than the CD. I suspect that the CD may have had some noise reduction applied to the original source material, giving a slightly duller sound, which may disappoint audio purists. However, the CD is still excellent and does not suffer from the occasional click and pop which one gets from vinyl.

An excellent walk-about lens for APS-C Canon Cameras
1 of 1 found this helpful I originally bought this lens second-hand as a general purpose lens for use with my Canon EOS20D and have also used it with my EOS50D. Note that this is an EF-S lens and will only work with the APS-C Canon cameras (will not work with full-frame). The zoom range is useful for most situations, except perhaps for wildlife photography where a longer reach than 85mm is required. The Image Stabiliser function makes it useful for indoor photography, allowing hand-held use with low shutter speeds. The longest useable shutter speed depends on what focal length the zoom is set to, but at 17mm, sharp handheld shots can be achieved at 1/8 second with the stabiliser 'on'. In looking at the image sharpness, the higher resolution of the EOS50D is more demanding, and with this camera the best sharpness seems to be achieved when the lens is stopped down by a couple of stops, to around f/11. The versatility of this lens more than makes up for the slight loss of image quality compared with a prime. The ring-type USM focus system of this lens is fast and accurate, and also enables full-time manual focussing where a manual 'tweak' of focus is required. The lens feels solid and is not a lightweight, and feels well-balanced on the EOS50D. Build quality is good with a metal lens mount. It is significantly better than the plastic mount kit lenses, and sits in quality between these and the Canon 'L' lenses.

Neat little tester ideal for permanent connection to accessory socket
Ideal for permanent use (plugged into the car's accessory socket) to monitor the charge condition of your car's battery. It gives confidence that the alternator is doing its job during driving and that your battery is OK. Much better than the other version of this tester which has crocodile clips.
