Get insight into car parameters that are not included in your instrument panel
2 of 2 found this helpful I wanted a way to monitor the engine RPM and fuel flow for the backup gasoline engine in my Chevy Volt. The engine is totally controlled by the car's computer and not by the accelerator pedal. The instruments in the car tell me what is happening with the batteries and the motors, but very little about the engine.
This device allowed me to set up log variables and generate a csv file that I could read and plot in Excel. Exactly what I needed.
I like the fact that this device easily interfaces with my Android telephone, it can generate real time displays of selected variables, and it can log and store data on selected variables. It is exactly what I wanted.

Very nice screen and feel, fast, great camera, best link to Android OS!
I like the way the Pixel phones integrate Android features better than others. This is a high-quality phone with the screen resolution, camera capabilities, and all-day battery life under moderate-to-heavy use. Bought the phone used and it was like brand new minus the packaging. Quick swap of the nano-SIM card and I was in business.

I paid $500 for an AR2700 multi-band radio about 15 years ago to listen to the same range of frequencies that this little dongle enables for less than $50! I am using one to pick up the digital ADS-B signals from aircraft, another to listen to the audio between airplanes and controllers, FM radio stations, HAM 2-meter conversations, weather radio, and more. The free software makes it easy to control the station selection, Realistically, a single small antenna will not give the best reception for the broad range of frequencies that this device can handle, but it works great for the ADS-B signals in the 1090 MHz range and for strong stations in the range of 88-150 MHz.
