Excellent film, deserves its Oscars
What could have been a stodgy, overlong biopic turns out to be a fascinating insight into Oppenheimer's life, with fine acting all round and the almost 3 hour running time went by without seeming a moment too long. I highly recommend this intelligent production. Perhaps it could have focused a little more on the actual effects of dropping the 2 atomic bombs on Japan, but overall this excellent film richly deserves its many Oscar awards.

Excellent production.
Excellent production values providing an authentic Victorian period atmosphere, top quality acting. They stretched the truth a little for dramatic purposes, but all in all a fascinating glimpse of not only Gilbert & Sullivan, but all the people involved in their productions, which were brilliantly staged. Though nearly 3 hours long, the time passed quickly, since the film was so absorbing.

Clever allegory about an unstable man's addiction to violence gradually taking him over completely.
