A great alternative to a DSLR
1 of 1 found this helpful I was originally looking to buy a digital SLR on ebay, when i came across the Fuji S9600. After reading a few online reviews i decided to give it a try as it is a much more competitive price.
When the camera arrived I was surprised at it's versatility and happy that it is packed full of useful and fun functions.
Altho it is fairly large, it is well weighted and feels good to hold.
All of the menus are very intuitive and after just a flit through the instruction manual you can get cracking with all of the basic functions.
The software provided works on PC and Mac and is simple to use, as is transferring your pics to your computer.
The only downside i have experienced so far is it's thirst for battery power, it takes 4 x AA batteries, so i would advise purchasing some rechargeable batteries as well. On the upside however, at least if the batteries *do* die, you can nip to the shop and buy some more, unlike with a camera with a rechargeable battery.
I think that this camera would be best suited to someone with an interest in photography, as i feel that it's potential would be wasted if you just wanted to take happy snaps. Although there is a very good 'auto' function, it's really nice to have full control when you want it.
I hope that this review has been useful to you :)

Meh
I'd recommend buying a more heavy duty hole punch. This one is ok and handy for your pencil case but you can only punch one or 2 pages at a time and it's quite tough
