So much more effective that just yelling "Stop!"

My daughter has a chihuahua, and when she comes to visit with her infant daughter, it never fails that this little dog has to yip very loudly whenever it sees someone on the street - often waking the baby if she is asleep. My daughter was in the habit of just yelling No or Stop, but of course this is not a consequence that effectively stops such behavior. We crossed our fingers the first time we tried Bark Genie, and to our delight, she stopped mid-yip, lowered her ears, and looked around. We only had to use it a couple of times until all we have to do now is say No and hold the wand so she can see it. (I also have a dog - a larger pit bull mix, and she apparently can hear it too, but is not a behavior problem, so I'm glad this worked so quickly because I don't want my dog to "worry" about why she's hearing this sound.)

Contented Kitty
