Nice Capri
I have to say that Corgi have very much upped their game with the Vanguards range of late. This has been helped by basing their new models on real cars that are still owned today. This Capri 'special' is very nicely finished in Vista Orange and features slats over the rear screen and a 'vinyl' roof. The road wheels are well captured. So, why does this model lose a star. The headlights are not captured well. The indicators should be orange and aren't and there is a very obvious round fixing point in the back of the headlights which really spoils them. More effort should be made with the interior, which is plain black plastic throughout. A good four stars but 'could do better'.

Beautiful British Volvo by Neo
The original Volvo P.1800 was built by Jensen in the West Midlands and it is great that Neo have acknowledged this in their model.
Beautifully crafted with many separately fitted parts, this is a model that looks great on display.
The metallic blue paintwork is lustrous and it's really good that they've avoided a white paint job - this is NOT The Saint's car!
As usual with resin models careful handling is needed, but as long as this is heeded this model will bring joy to its owner for years to come.
A very unusual niche in British motor manufacturing and I thank Neo for producing it.
As a final postscript, it's worth noting that Volvo were very quickly unhappy with the quality control at Jensen and manufacture soon moved to Sweden.

Workaday Escort Model
There are many Escort MK1 models available in 1/43 scale: Minichamps, Trofeu, Ixo, Jess and Vanguards. While this Vanguards model lacks some of the separately fitted details of some of the more expensive brands, it captures the lines of the original well. What I like is that they've chosen a much more everyday, standard saloon for this model (far from the glamour or excitement of the Mexico or RS2000). The Evergreen metallic finish is reasonably well executed, the metallic flecks are a bit too big, but overall this is a good model for the collector who wants an Escort 'like dad drove' (or in my case, grandad).
