Fantastic travel tripod

This tripod really is tiny, the central stem reverses into the legs when packed so it's very very short. It weighs 1.2 KG and its very solid. The ball head is easy to adjust, the leg lengths are easy to adjust and at full height its fairly reasonable. I am basing my review on what it is: A travel tripod. I have this as a secondary tripod for use when hiking long distances. It's also great for aircraft travel if you have restrictions on size or weight that make it difficult for another tripod to pack. I would not use this as a primary tripod. It's full height is only 1.5m or something so if you are tall this means you will spend a lot of time hunched over which could get tiresome. The ball head is basic - serves its purpose for low weight, but has no pan function if the ball is locked, so panoramic shots may be difficult. I hike a lot and this tripod is the best I have had - so lightweight and compact. Highly recommended if you want a travel tripod, not so recommended as a main use tripod if you are an advanced amateur or professional, or you have heavy camera body and lens combinations.

Rubber is too soft

The quality of the steel spikes and the rubber feet also fit very nicely and tight over the spikes. Easy enough to remove. Unfortunately the rubber feet are made from a very soft compound and as such, the tripod feels 'spongy' when the rubber feet are attached. This is a shame becasue otherwise this product is great.

It leaks! But it’s cheap, so I put up with it.

Good concept let down by cheaply made. Spin off the main lid and this has a grate so oil can pour in without splashing out. It’s a little small so some oil will miss can go down the sides so be aware you may get some on your driveway. When completed, you can spin the large lid back on and take it to a recycling centre and pour the oil out from the smaller hole. Both of these lids leak so you can’t store it flat or upright. The lids need a gasket to stop this. I used a latex glove spun under the smaller lid and I can lay it flat until I empty it. It’s cheap so good value so yes I recommend it, but it is a cheap item which does the trick with a bit of mess. Ok for me.
