Worthy of the deluxe treatment
Just as you cannot polish a turd, you cannot make a diamond too beautiful. As a result, the fact that the 1996 remaster release of this was fantastic in no way detracts from the majesty of this latest reissue. For a quality in-depth review see Starfarer's Hawkwind site. Apart from the legendary music, the packaging and booklet are wonderful. Behold the Ritual.

What does 'shakadelic' mean?
Quality house LP with elements of breaks and a dash of electro. Strangely lacking in profile and exposure despite having been championed by Norman Cook, most notably on 'Fatboy Slim live at Brighton Beach' volume one. A number of the tracks were released as singles, 'Camels', "I'm not homesick' and the incendiary '3-2-1 fire!'. The short version of the latter doesn't do it justice so if you're after that then get the 12" single instead. Long album with many decent tracks, aging well enough, just avoid the irritating self-explanatory final track 'Don't play'.

The box is probably the highest build quality
Stopped working within 2 days of receipt, hadn't even got round to affixing the stickers. More plastic landfill.
