Time traveling overdone with this book.
I don't mind a book that starts off in present time then goes back in time to tell the story from that time up to the present. However, this book kept flipping back and forth from the early 1900's to present time with every chapter and drove me nuts. It was difficult to keep the characters straight and didn't start to really get good until you read at least 350 pages of the 548. I had to read it for my book club otherwise I never would have finished it.

Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen (2007)
I thought it was very good and gave an understanding into the hard lives in that era of the raveling circuses. Your rank/race was a big thing back then. It had parts that were funny, sad, even murder, but I lived the ending. I belong the the Red Hat Society and our Chapter has a book club and that was one of our book of the month to read.

    A Land Remembered
A monthly book-club choice by my club. A long book over 400 pages, however you won't want to put it down for a minute. As you are reading you feel like you are watching a movie and you see it right in front of you. The history in Florida is accurate and the storyline had me in tears at least three times before I finished reading the book. Wonderful, Wonderful!!!!! K. Mikulec Cooper City, FL
