Great, laptop design makes this painful to install, but part is exactly as expected and in flawless condition
My laptop is around 2.5 years old now and after heavy use the keyboard started failing. Shortly after midnight on Thursday 4th I ordered this, it arrived on time this morning (Saturday 6th), and I set to work replacing my existing keyboard with this one.
The process to do so is a lot of work as it involves removing all other components of the laptop - I suggest putting aside a few hours. Dell's published service manual on the subject is good (make sure you have a screwdriver handy that will be of the right type to take care of the screws). Although it does occasionally assume you have the extra HDD, and assumes you didn't already perform certain steps while disconnecting a previous components, etc., it's perfect if you're keeping track of what you're doing.
After you perform the process and put everything back together, it may have a blank display and boot loop 3-4 times, but will work out. It started working again for me when I connected it to the mains power. The first time booting after following the process you'll need to run the BIOS setup and correct the system clock which will have broken due to disconnecting the IO board and CMOS battery.
