Digital Camera - Sony DSC-H9
24 of 25 found this helpful I am a former Countryside Ranger, who has had to retire through ill health. I have arthritis and diabetic foot problems, limiting a beloved passtime of hiking.
What has this to do with a camera? I will try to explain.
I find my world has shrunken; I must watch footing, slopes, stones, brambles and other such trivia that in the past meant nothing. In order to glean pleasure now, I need to stop and look around, concentrate on the small, often overlooked, and the distance views, before continuing a hobble, concentrating on the immediate viscinity of my feet.
Because of my disability, I take a camera giving me an 'excuse' to pause and drink in the beauty of my surroundings. I used to notice more than the average person when I was a Ranger, but find I now have more time to let nature develop around me. I have photos of barn owl, fish, flowers, butterflies, canal life and so much more now.
I have a 3 meg. camera already, which has given me years of faithful photography. However, I wanted a camera that gave me evening shots, low light shots, high optical magnification, a good view screen, a steadying system, long battery life, ability to hold lots of snaps and a good selection of adjustments as well as auto.
I looked through many sellers and decided that the H9 offered as many of these factors as practicable, whilst offering a really good asking price, with the included 4 gig memory stick. The 'traditional' shape and size was attractive as well, especially with arthritic hands.
When it arrived, I was very pleased with it, probably more so, overjoyed? If there is a fault, or something that could be improved, I could only cite that the viewing screen is a little vulnerable to scratches. Easily rectified with a screen cover or peel-off clear skins.
With an 8 megapixel picture, I can snap a photo and edit later on the 'ole PC, I have yet to take blurred or 'shaken' snap. The camera is light and comfortable to handle, very quick to fire up and focus and produces cracking photos. I also found the remote very handy especially for photographing items close up for eBay listings.
Whilst I am no professional photographer, not even an amateur with much experience, I do find this camera very good value for money, first class for ease of use and more than capable of producing really good photographs.
I have no difficulty in recommending this H9 camera, and in doing so its seller.
