First things first... I am not a Dennis Q fan. This movie however, could not be done better by anyone else, in part because of his lack of emotion in his normal acting - a good thing in this movie, and perfect in charater. The story centers around DQ who after tragic personal lost joins the Foreign Legion and is a specatator (and participant) to the violence in Bosnia during their civil war. He meets a rape victim and her baby, and the story follows their journey to safety. Simple plot, brutal execution. It does not hold back on the cruelty, prejudice and helplessness of the people caught up in this civil war. What pushes the film into the excellent slot is the atmosphere created by the background music (a choir of singers). Acting by all is stark and if you leave this movie not wiping a tear or telling one person about it, you dont have a heart. This is a surprise buy guys, and would probably not be on your initial DVD must have list. This movie is brilliant though and although not as visually shocking as some other war time films, this one did hit the spot. I saw it 5 years ago, and had to own it... no regrets here. Brilliant.
