Older model but solid
Great GPS to carry in the field. Fits easily in a coat/jacket pocket. The replaceable AA batteries last 15-20 hrs. Lots of features, usual manual available online. Pairs well with Garmin BaseCamp and Mapsource. Not Wi-Fi capable but can be connected to computer with a mini-usb for transferring waypoints and routes to to and from the GPS. The unit locks onto satellites very well even in dense cover and holds onto them well. Although it is WAAS capable, it is not GLONASS capable. One downside of both the Vista HC, HCX and the Legend HC, HCX is that eventually the black rubber "band" that goes around the outside of the GPS will stretch and come unattached. Garmin has no repair for this problem.
