Should be superior to the incandescent it replaces
It replaces an incandescent bulb that burns out too often, so hopefully it will last (yet to be seen). It is brighter than the bulb it replaces, which is good. It has no cover, but is installed in a location where it doesn't need one; that should help with overheating problems that a closed bulb may have.

Replaces old First Alert detectors well
I bought this to replace old smoke detectors that have been going off randomly, probably because they were old
(> 10 years) and dirty. We were required to install them during a remodel, and I wouldn't recommend the system for new installations.
However, if you need to replace old detectors on an established system, these new units are good replacements.

This receiver really does the job
My Samsung SIR-T165 finally gave up the ghost after 7 years of driving my HDTV display, so I needed a replacement. I was impressed with the "they thought of everything" approach used for my previous Samsung, so my first choice was an updated Samsung HDTV receiver. I wanted a great signal handling capability, the ability to route other signal sources (DVD, VCR) through the tuner without moving wires, and a smart user interface. I found that in the TS-360, which is a newer model than the SIR-T165. I realize that new HDTVs include tuners, so I was glad to find one that did what I need: handle all the HDTV terrestrial signals (112 at last count) in Los Angeles. The SIR-TS360 could handle satellite signals as well, but I'm not on DirecTV at the moment. I found a user's guide on line, but I still can't get it to display West Coast time; it came from the East Coast. The picture is excellent, perhaps even better than the SIR-T165. The tuner doesn't have any problems with certain channels like the SIR-T165 did, and the SIR-TS360 seems to run a lot cooler than the SIR-T165 did. The unit has a footprint that is similar to other typical components (DVD, VCR, etc.) so it can be stacked with them.
