Solid, perky and compatible

Easiest dock to use for Dell laptops
I've tried USB (2.0 & 3.0) and thunderbolt docks, but they all take a little more setting up. The port replicators "just work". They pass through the graphics performance of the actual laptop, and are just one connector. They may be a little more bulky, plus you need the space for most recent dell laptops, but I prefer them. There's always loads of new, or nearly new ones on eBay, so they can be a bargain. Don't forget to get a spare power supply, or buy one with the dock, so you don't have to keep plugging in your laptop power supply (which rather defeats the point of the dock!). The bigger "plus" replicator is only really needed if you have legacy devices to drive, the basic can still connect to 2 external monitors, network and USB and audio. It'll be a shame when Dell professional laptops no longer have the required connector, and expect everyone to buy expensive unreliable thunderbolt/USB docks.

Great computer of small music speakers!
1 of 1 found this helpful We had a set of these arrive with a dell computer we bought at work. They have done sterling service for 3 years pumping out music from the office jukebox (Logitech Squeezeserver & Softsqueeze is an excellent free solution). So when we expanded the office we needed another matching pair. Finding such good sound with a thumping base from attractive and discrete speakers for just over £15 second hand is the reason we stuck with them.
