  It was new in the box. I had no problems setting it up, it was quite easy, actually. I'm no geek, so you know it was easy! It functions just like it's advertised but I did have one problem and that was the distance covered. The package states that it will cover 1500sf but in direct line of sight, just going thru the window, it couldn't handle 150 feet. It would only register a "good", connection and this only gave me an 8% wi-fi signal. I'll order a stronger one for my Generac.
