Good Bike but not come assembled and one gear didn't change properly
Have just bought and had a great ride on this.
DOES NOT COME ASSEMBLED as I assumed it would - I don't know if this is normal but unpacking and assembling was not a five minute job, especially if you have never done this before.
Still, the simplest video I found is PCMHowTo's video on YouTube titled "How to assemble a new bike from a box" (the how to web link provided in the included 'Important Information' pamphlet did not seem to work). I followed the instructions and assembled the bike for a ride.
Tools necessary to assemble are provided though a screwdriver is not included so have one ready - latter is just for attaching the white and red light reflector things and the bell.
It does come 90% assembled and it's not actually that complicated to do but still, get ready to roll up the sleeves up for a bit and tighten some nuts and bolts.
I took if for a ride - it rode nicely. Everything was great until I tried to change to 'Speed 3' on the left gear changer (the right gear changer has up to 7 'Speeds' and worked fine). After several attempts and much patience, I had to conclude that trying to tap into the mysterious power of Speed 3 would not work without encouragement - I had to physically move the chain by hand then it worked fine but of course, my hands were greasy and eating ice cream with greasy hands to combat the body heat of a very hot day was not what I had in mind.
Make sure you tighten the nuts and bolts properly! The handlebars fell increasingly lower as I rode and almost took me into the street because I hadn't tightened them properly. Luckily I had some Allen Keys with me (yeah, I'm all about the DIY terminology now!) so I fixed issue there and then.
I bumped it off of the edge of pavements (probably a bad habit I shouldn't develop) and it held together fine. Had a good ride testing out the work commute. Am slightly annoyed about Speed 3 - it can shift off of Speed 3 but not back onto it. Still, good bike, good riding and will continue to use.
