The choice for real photographers!
If you are a photographer who likes to have all the control over the camera and are not interested in all the automation of newer SLR cameras, this is the right choice for you!
I bought this camera because I wanted to have a vintage one, and I love to shoot film. I always know that my pictures will be fine, so a digital camera with display is useless for me. The exposure meter of my Chinon CX is not working, but who cares? Guessing the exposure of the ambient light is part of the fun!
Its shutter speed is very consistent with the adjusted setting. If you don't use the exposure meter, you don't need to use batteries, what is a great advantage for people who cares about the environment. One problem is that the timer lever is close to the area where my fingers usually rest when I hold the camera, so sometimes I unintentionally activate it.
The camera is not so comfortable to hold, since it's basically a metal box.

A good value for a masterpiece
The cover is well finished, and the record is 180-gram pressed. The sound is just wonderful!
A minor drawback is that the inner sleeve leaves some dust on the LP's surface, which is difficult to remove if you don't have an appropriate anti-static cleaner.

A TOP professional camera for the price of a point-and-shot digital one!
1 of 1 found this helpful I love all kinds of photography, and film photography is one of them. I already had a consumer film camera and wanted to have a professional one. Besides that I always wanted to have a professional digital camera, but since I may have to sell my car in order to have enough money for so, why not buy a top film camera for only a small fraction of the money? I searched for a model in the Canon product line, because this way I could use the Canon lenses I already have and use with my digital camera. I ended up choosing the Canon EOS 1n, that was the top camera on its era.
When looking at its front, with a new lens, one can easily think it's a digital equipment. It resembles the current top Canon cameras, and it fells absolutely solid in my hands. It is indeed heavy when compared to other consumer grade cameras, but who cares? If you want lightweight, please stop reading this and buy an iPhone. It works with all my Canon EOS lenses and has all the metering modes and priority modes (M, Av and Tv) that the photographers need. The Speedlite series of Canon flash units also works with this camera in TTL mode.
My camera came with the Battery Pack grip, and this brings the huge advantage of using AA rechargeable batteries, this way I don't have to look for special models of batteries nor chargers.
There is something that I could say it is a disadvantage when comparing it to other models, but this also happens with the current top digital models: the lack of built-in flash. I am mainly an available-light photographer, so it is not that bad, but sometimes I miss the small extra source of light. I do have a Canon external flash unit, but the gear becomes too heavy and draws the attention of the people even more. The configuration functions are not intuitive for those who are used to the displays of the digital cameras, but the photographer would need to configure the camera only once, so it is not a big deal.
As I like to develop black and white film by myself, this model has a very interesting function: it is possible to configure the film rewinding to leave the film leader outside the cartridge.
In conclusion I think it is a great value for money. It is a TOP piece of equipment for the price of a digital point-and-shot camera.
