Nice look but poor sound

As an acoustic engineer I bought this as a present to my parents. They were looking for a "cool" product for their countryside house. I do agree, the speaker looks nice and the fit of plastic and metal parts is good. But the sound quality is questionable and the cost is really high for the performance. I still don't understand how people could trade the real audio quality for portability with such a light heart.
