Flash Gordon (DVD)
this is a rip roaring sci/fi adventure that is as spectacular today as it was on inital release. its well rounded cast performing well within there talents.
its highly colourfull and the soundtrack (by Queen) is highly insperational.
sadly its effects are of their day and have dated rather badly but these are forgivable if you put the film as a classic semi camp sci/fi adventure.
it upholds the telling of the original stories from the 1930's i suspect that if they remade it today it would fail to be as stunning as this classic.
i would be happy to place this along side the original star wars on my dvd shelf alomg with my godzilla movies etc.
i would gladly recomend this movie to any one wanting to watch good entertainment thats not explicit in language or violence, a great movie sadly much insulted by critics over the years.

Field of Dreams (DVD2003)
this is a gem of a movie one of those rare feel good movies that is not a girls film.
the acting in parts is great with a cast that handled the script beyond average, Keven costner in the lead with backing of the great burt Lancaster( this was his final screen role before his death- and was a fitting final role.), James Earl Jones in cracking form. Amy Madigan, Ray Liotta also give fine performances.
this is one of those movies starring Kevin costner that he does not over act or try to control thus a pleasure to watch.
to reveal its plot i think would cheapen it all i can say is to everyone if you want a gem of a modern classic in your collection this is it, it is not a remake or a special effects bonanza but it can be viewed by all the family.
the closest movie to this would be Robert redfords The Natural another baseball movie that has a feel good factor.
the movies catchphrase (if you build it he will come) is one of the creepiest and best out of hollywood in recent years.

Ice Pirates review
this is one of those movies that was made to be self silly, a good cast seeming to enjoy their parts, with out reservation i would say if your a Sci/Fi fan and you have not seen this you are missing something well worth having in a DVD collection.
