Men of a Certain Age: Season 2 DVD
06 Jan, 2016
Men of A Certain Age Season Two TNT pulled the plug too soon!!!
A great series that was very entertaining with great storytelling and acting. Ray Romano and Mike Royce created this series about three friends, Joe (Ray Romano), Owen (Andre Braugher) and Terry (Scott Bakula) who are in middle-age and their journeys through life. The second season is unfortunately the final season for this TNT original series. I think it was due to the programing on TNT, they split the second season into two parts (6 episodes each). The first part in the winter and the second in the fall, ruining the continuity of the series. It was difficult to follow for even the most loyal viewers of the show, myself included when it was being broadcasted. This show would have benefitted with the binge watching format of some networks, broadcasting showing several episodes in a row. The series is about three men who face a number of roadblocks on their continuing journeys through midlife, but they know they can rely on their friends to see them through. They usually meet at their favorite diner Norm's or on their morning hikes. The main character, Joe is a divorced, slightly neurotic father of two who runs a party store and recently overcame a gambling problem. After some early missteps, he is getting more into the swing of the dating scene and now has decided to rekindle his dream of becoming a professional golfer on the senior tour. The only married man of the group is Owen who is a devoted family man. Having worked most of his adult life under the thumb of his domineering father at the family owned car dealership. Owen is finally starting to assert himself more. He convinced his father to retire and to be groomed for taking over the family business, despite competition from his co-worker Markus. Once he takes over the dealership he struggles with being the boss. Terry is the laid back, handsome actor who seems to breeze through life (and woman). But following a disastrous attempt at managing his apartment complex and acting career, decides to work at his friend Owen's car dealership. Once he asserts himself, he sees how successful he can be. He also finds true love with his ex-acting partner and struggles with maintaining a long term relationship. In short, if you were a fan of season one, you will definitely love season two. It's a shame that TNT pulled the plug on this series after only two seasons. The DVD also has some special features such as behind the scenes, deleted scenes and audio commentary. I highly recommend this DVD set and series one if you haven't seen it. A+++++

Very Strange CD!!!
This is a very strange compulation that sounds good on paper but never lives up to my expectations. I am a hugh fan of Cheap Trick, and a fan of some of the artist on this tribute. The problem is electonica--it just dosen't fit the song writting and music feel of Cheap Trick. Ryan Roxie and Kelly Hanson are great at what they do, that is Rock and Roll! These could have been great covers if done in a rock (style) but electronica just doesn't do it for me. I could see doing a electronica CD but use artist in that genre. Rock or Heavy Metal artist doing a different genre backfires on this compulation. Most Cheap Trick fans I have talked with agree with me and don't consider this as a must own CD even if you buy everything Cheap Trick. I decided to buy it for the artist and being a big Trick fan. Being honest, I probably will not listen to it after the first time.
