new medalistPflueger Medalist needs better drag.
This 7/8 reel would be good if the drag system (click & pall) were a bit stonger. The adjusting knob has no discernible effect on the dragand the reel is not made for palming. The reel would be difficult to use for stronger fish such as steelhead. The smaller 5/6 reel is probably fine for trout, etc.

hiking pole
Hiking pole tips that are long-wearing and fit appropriate sized poles securely. These tips are a harder compound than some pole manufacturers supply, which is why they wear much more slowly. I do not find the hardness an issue. They are also much less expensive than the pole manufacturer's OEM tips.
