Go for width

Any sander block of this type really needs to be about double the width of this one. Otherwise you won't really be able to cover much surface area. Worse still, unless you're careful if you apply force or move it quickly when sanding a ceiling the plate has a nasty habit of flipping over 180 degrees and so you end up accidentally gouging out your ceiling - nightmare. Don't get any model less than 20cm wide.
