What I was looking for

I bought this for two reasons - airflow and white noise while sleeping. It's perfect on both counts. It has several 'modes' which modify the airflow to supposedly mimick natural variability in wind speed, but I will never use these settings as the sound difference is too noticeable. Haven't used it with water or ice to cool yet.

Wanted to love it, but...

I'm not convinced it does anything much. The only time I've been glad of it was on particularly hot and humid days, when I found that breathing the air coming from it was refreshing and relaxing, but I had to put my face right in front of it. Any fan speed above the lowest one is too noisy for most situations. Also, I hate the lights on top. To use at night, I have to cover the top or the room is too bright. It also has an ear-splitting beep whenever you change a setting, so you can't do that during the night either. Disappointing, given the price.
